The EUROSAI TFA&E won the I prize “Integrity in the Public Sector” awarded by the University of Castilla La Mancha and the World Compliance Association in 2019. This prize was handed over to the TFA&E during the II Congress of Compliance in the Public Sector, held in Madrid on 27 March 2019.

The jury of the competition, chaired by the President of the Foundation for the Training and Investigation in Public Sector Audit (FIASEP), Miguel Ángel Cabezas, chose the EUROSAI initiative Task Force on Audit & Ethics as the most distinguished one in the institutional category of the prize. The prize for the individual category was awarded to Antonio Arias, member of the audit body of Asturias, for a long career in promoting public audit and integrity.
The proposal was made by Luis Álvarez Arderius, auditor in the audit body of Canarias, and the jury chose it as the winning one for the following reasons:
-        It is a consolidated initiative;
-        Having a major impact in the promotion of ethics and integrity;
-        With an important pedagogical and cooperative focus;
-        Based on the leadership and role model value of audit institutions; and
-        Implementing continuous efforts to promote interinstitutional and interprofissional cooperation.
Ms. Helena Abreu Lopes, member of Tribunal de Contas of Portugal, represented this SAI and its President, Mr. Vítor Caldeira, as Chair of the TFA&E, as well as all the other members of the TFA&E in the award ceremony.  Upon invitation of the organisers, the prize was handed over by the President of Tribunal de Cuentas of Spain and the Secretary General of EUROSAI, Ms. Maria José De La Fuente.
Ms Lopes highlighted how this prize is a significant recognition of the work done by the TFA&E and by its members in promoting an ethical culture in public sector organisations and a solid indicator of its impact.
Mr Vítor Caldeira, Chair of the TFA&E, is proud of this award and thanks to all the SAIs and organisations that have contributed for its achievements, and, mainly, to all colleagues that have been working hard to promote integrity through their initiatives and in their daily work.
